Army Ranger Ted Watkins, returning from his last tour of duty in Vietnam, decides to abandon society and take up residence in a remote corner of the Louisiana swamps. Thinking Watkins has a stash of loot hidden away in his cabin, three thieves sneak into his cabin and murder the man in cold blood. Before they can get away, however, a swamp witch named Damballa performs a voodoo rite to bring Watkins' body back to life and take revenge on the men who killed him.

Janelle (Asa Akira) flees in the night from her abusive husband Darren. She relocates a thousand miles away and tries to begin a new life. Nice guy Ben is immediately smitten with the mysterious new barista at his local coffee shop.. After many weeks of trying, Ben convinces Janelle to go out with him and they begin happily dating. A young boy, Takeshi, is guided by a mysterious old man, Takeuchi, from Nagano to ancient Izumo. Takeshi gets lost in a dark world while visiting famous places related to ancient mythology. So Brahman, the will of the universe, began to tell Takeshi a startling fact.
